INTOXICATED MOTORIST FINED £10; LICENSE CANCELLED At the Opotiki Police Court this morning before Messrs. J, I). Clark and 'C. Pipe, J.P’s.. Attnvliai Ha untie i, a married man, farming at Wai~ uwa. was charged >vith being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a car, on November 14. Accused pleaded guilty. Sergeant J. Isbistor, who prosecuted, said that accused was seen by Constable Cooper leaving an hotel at 6.15 p.m. Accused got int.Oi his carpreparing to drive away. He admitted going to the hotel at 2 o’clock and leaving at G.Jo p.m. During that time ho said lie had 8-or 9 beers. , A medical certificate was furnished. The bench took a serious view of the offence, stating that the practice of imprisonment was being adopted in. many centres. A fine of £lO was imposed and accused’s license was cancelled! tor .18 months. DRUNK AND DISORDERLY On Monday, before justices of tin 1 peace, Arthur Buffett was charged, with being drunk and disorderly in a. public place. Accused was convicted and. lined £o, and he agreed to tako out a nrohibition order against himself.
