FAREWELL AFTERNOON

A very jplonsan.c afternoon was held recently when the wives, mothers and sisters of local Territorials met at the home of Mrs. F. Armstrong, the guest of lionjwr being Mrs. CT D. Brown, wife of Captain 'Brown. Several competitions, arranged by Mrs. J. Armstrong and Miss E. UHdgo, were enjoyed, the winners being Mis. F. Fisher, Mrs. J. Armstrong junlv Miss Jean Gaskill and A 1 isn Joblin*.'Musical items were also rendered by Mrs. J* Armstrong. Miss Bridge, on behalf of those present, presented: Mrs. Brown with a token of their appreciation of the many kindnesses that she had shown towards the hoys and also wished her happiness in her new home. In reply, Airs. Brown said that lor the duration of the war her future home w/riild he in Hamilton and.that any ol: the hoys on leave from camp would always find a welcome there. Thanks to the hostesses. Airs. F. Armstrong and the singing of Auld Lang Syne brought vei'v enjoyable afternoon to a close. On ‘ a recent evening the members .of the Opotiki Territorials met at the home of Airs. 0. IX 1 frown to wish her happiness in her new homo. Senior Pvts. AI. Dein mere ___ presented Airs. Brown with a gift in appreciation of all that she had done lor them in the past andl wished her all the best of happiness in her future home. Airs. Brown feelingly replied. A very enjoyable musical evening was br,ought to a close with the singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow’’. FAREWELL TO VOLUNTEERS Friends of Messrs. E. Martin-Smith and P. Yokes who left this morning t 0 go into military camp, tendered, a farewell to them last, night. The .evening took" the iorm ofi a- dance, the music* being supplied by Air. S. McD'ougall with extras by Aliss K. Jeplison. Two men to earl.o dances were won by Aliss K. Caves, partneied by Air L. Connor and Li. Knox, respectively. During the evening Air. &. .Carter, on behalf of those present, wished the, guests the best' of luck. Air. Yokes responded on behalf of the guests.
