YESTERDAY’S RACE Ten boats faced the starter in the. race which was held in the Opotiki harbour yesterday morning. The race was run on the Mark Foy .system with a variable wind with a southerly tendency. The starters were:—L‘Oiseau (A. W. McGregor) 20 mins., Marie (I\ Warren), Q.T. (E. Salt),' Flying Cloud (It. Lambie) 9 mins., Phantom (C. Cederman), Manene (T. N. Hill) 8 mins., Silver Wings (I). Talbot) 7 mins., Popeye. (H. G. Simpson). 3jniins., Opali (S. N. Chatfield, Endeavour (C. Carruthers) scr. The race was three tiihes around, approximately 5 miles. On rounding the buoy at the junction of the rivers, E. Salt, sailing Q.T., had the misfortune to capsize while holding third position.
