Gardens in the Wairarapa' with early . crops of potatoes, tomatoes and french and "runner beans received a bad setback on Monday morning when a heavy white frost of 10.2 degrees played havoc among the less hardy vegetables. In one case a gardener carefully covered With sacking all his early potatoes ,only to find) in t-lio morning that the severity of the frost had to a great extent nullified his protective measures. A light frost was experienced in the Opotiki district this morning but was not heavy enough to cause any noticeable damage.
