WEDDING
YOUNC—TYRIJp .A very pretty wedding of local interest was solemnised at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Opotiki; on Wednesday evening, 20th. September, when Betsy, Boss, youngest daughter of Air. 'and Aits. H. R. Tyrie, was married to Frank Reginald, second son of Air. and Airs. A. Young. Bov. A. C. Hampton officiated, while Professor Piny or presided at the organ. The church was •tastefully decorated by friends of the bride, with bowls of iceland poppies, daffodils and blue irises. The bridle, who entered the church on the arm of her father, made a charming picture in an early Victorian gown of ivory taffetas and tulle. The bodice was oif tight-fitting style with peter pan collar, and edgings of frilled tulle around the sleeves. The skirt, billowing from the waist, was trimmed with taffeta roses, and finished with a tulle flounce.' From beneath her bonnet of silk crinoline, velvet rose trimmed, and tying beneath the chin with ivory velvet ribbons, softly fell her embroidered veil forming a train. Her posy was of camellias, carnations, frec'-ins and white heather with maid-en-hair fern. Attending the bride were Airs. B. Pa lives, matron of honour. AI iss Nessie Tyrie. chief bridesmaid, and Aliss Dorothy Young, second bridesmaid. All wore model enrly-Yietorian gowns of powder blue taffetas, with off-tlie-shoulder bodices. The small pulled sleeves were linked at the shoulder line, and the mouffant skirts were gracefully finished with scalloped lockings. Gold chains and pendants wornwit h small posies el pastel flowers finished the neckline. Their bonnets »>! blue silk crinoline and lace, trimmed with pastel velvet rosebuds, were tied beneath the chin with navy velvet ribbon. A luffs of blue taffetas, trimmed with pastel Hewers, completed their ensemble. The lirith'greom was attended' by Air Cyril Tong. Air. U. Henderson, and Air. R. Parkes. The duties of ushers were ably earned out- by Air. I). Tyrie and Air. J. Young. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Wattle lea-rooms. The tables were daintily decorated \\7cli spring flowers, the handsome four-tier cake holding place <1 honour. Airs. Tyrie, the bride’s mother, received her guests wei\riug a charming dinner govjii ol black embossedl georgette, a black bat trimmed with deep rose and pale pink flowers to match a spray worn on her frock, ■-’he carried a dainty posy of varignted red and • link cai nations. _Tlie bridegroom’* mother. Airs. Young, t hose a hoantilnl I rock el burgundy lace and georgette, with pic-ture-hat and flowers to tone. Her bouquet was of red and cyclamen anemones. with maiden-hair fern. - During tin* reception a solo was rendered by Air. J. Young, accompanied l)v Aiiss T). Yeung, while Air. W. Young also charmed the company with a musical item. Alter the reception, .(lance was held for the remainder of 1 lie evening. The happy couple left later, oil their honeymoon, amid showers of confetti and good wishes, Airs.
