COMFORTS COMMITTEE A spirit of keenness and eagernessto help pervaded the. meeting of ladies, held in the Parish Hall on Thursdayafternoon to elect a committee,to arrange organisation of the eomloits section of the Bed Cross. At| the request of the local branch of the Society the meeting -was convened by AFrs. de Montalk, who outlined the objects of the meeting* in a speech wherein she stressed tlie need of avoiding waste both “of energy’ and material, and yf using to tile best end the many -offers, of willing help -proffered by all sections'of the community. A strong committee was appointed, consisting of:— Chairman, Mrs. de Montalk. Secretary. Mrs. J. D. Clark. Purchasing, Airs. Fox, Mrs. Tabb,* and Mrs. Thompson. Cutting-out, Airs. A. Davies, Airs.. J. D. Dicker and Mrs. W. J. Inskip... Wool, Airs. Duff. Distribution. Airs. Carroll. Mis.. Beeves and Airs. Burton. A register of those willing to help will he made shortly under the headings of knitting, machining, and bandsewing and materials will be distributed accordingly. Ladies wishing- to register, may notify any member of the committee.,y It was (Decided that jvhile most of the work would be done at home, there would be a monthly meeting on. the fourth Thursday of every month ..jyhen helpers could meet together for .mutual assistance and to discuss tlieimmediate needs of the society.
