SHORTAGE) NOT SO AUUTIEI The Placement Officer, Rotorua (Mr. 1.. |[. Armstrong), advises that- considerably: less applications for farm labour are being received from the Whakatane and Opotiki districts this year. It would therefore appear that the shortage of labour for dairy farms is not so acute as during the last season. It .is possible that dairy farmers are not aware that they may apply to the Social Security Department. W’lnw katano, for labour they may require'. Should the department not. be able t-i fill the vacancies notified with local labour the assistance of other offices will ho sought. Dairy farmers are advised that Scheme 4,F is again in operation and that application may be made for labour under this scheme to the Social Security. Department, Whakatane, or direct to Rotorua. Applications should bo made on the prescribed form obtainable at either olfice. The scheme provides for .the employment of inexperienced •men between the ages of 20 and 2o years, men to be paid the full agreement rate's of wages and the -department to subsidise the employer to the extent of £1 per week/
