WEDDING

MULHERN—CAIRNS A pretty wedcliuv was solemnised" with Nuptial Mass at St. Church, Huiitly, on Saturday morning. September gild., when Miss Doris Mabel Mary Cairns, only daughter of Dr; and Mrs. J. C’ainis, of Raynor’s Road, Huntly, was married "to Mr; Patrick Buckley Mulhern, of 'Woodlands, Opotiki,-eldest son of Mrs. and the late Mr.'. P. Mulhern, of Opotiki. The- ceremony was performed by the Rev. Monsignor Cahill, of Auckland. assisted by Rev. Father Curtin. .Miss Kathleen Gordon presided at the organ. The altar was beautifully decorated" with a profusion of daffodils aud violets. During the ceremony, MT. V. J. Cooke, of Waikokowai, rendered the solo “Just for To-day.” The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a graceful frock of off-white bridal satin, designed with high neckline edged with pleated -tulle and fastened down the front to the waistline with tiny crystal buttons, jsfnd the long fitting sleeves, which were slightly gathered at the shoulders, were edged with pleated tulle at the wrists. The softly flared skirt merged at tin® back into a long fan-sha-pocl pleated train. Her hip-length A'eil of hancl-embroidered nett was worn over the face en entering t-lie church, and fell from a> topknot of orange blossom, and slit* carried a sheaf of arum lilies. Attending as bridesmaids were Miss Rose Malone, of Gkaihau, and Miss Jean Thomas, of Glen Alton, who wore pretty frocks of blossom pinlc, sprigged voilt over pink taffeta, fashioned with close-fitting bodices with Peter Pan collars and long sleeves gathered on the shoulders. The skirts were fully flared and trimmed with small blue tibben bows. They wore large picture bats to tone*, trimmed underneath the brims with posies of pink stocks and blue forget-me-nots, and carried trailing bouquets of shaded pink stock, sweet peas, blue hyacinths and forget-me-nots. and freesias, arranged with maicLiihair and asparagus fern, and tied with blue ribbon streamers. The little flower-girl. Irene Davidson, of Pnpatcetoe (cousin ot the bride), wore a dainty ankle-length 1 1 cck v of blciKSom pink sprigged voile over pink taffeta, designed with high waistline* finished with a blue sash, short puffed sleeve’s, and full skirt. She wore a SmalL.net cap to tone with her frock, finished at the front with pleated net and trimmed at each side with pink ribbon bows. A Victorian posy of shaded pink sticks,, blue hyacinths/ andi forget-me-nots and maidenhair fern was carried.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Air. Desmond Mulhcrn, of Putaruru, as best man. and Air. Cecil (dairies, of Ohinewai (brother of the Inide). was groomsman.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the- bride’s parents, where the tables were attractively arranged with spring flowers, The bride's mother, Mrs. J. Cairns, was wearing a smart tailored blue frock relieved with cream lace, and a navy straw hat trimmed with pink and cyclamen Moral sprays. She carried a bouquet of mauve and blue violets and anemones, cream sweet peas and freesias. with maidenhair fern. Airs. P. Alulhern (the bridegroom’s iik tiier). wore a- smart navy frock and coat, felt hat. ten match and navy accessories, and she carried a bouquet cjl mauve andi blue* violets, anemones, cream sweet Vieas and I roes ins. and maiden-hair fern.

Aliss Fileen Afulliern. of Auckland bridegroom’s sister), wore a grey costume. black bat and black furs. Aliss Kathleen Alulhern. of Opotiki (bridegroom's sister), was wearing a spring suit- with air fcurec* blue felt luit. AY ben Air. and Airs. P. B. Alulhern left Tor they- honeymoon, the bride •travelled in a bottle* green costume, with mustard hat and accessories.
