PEART— MURRAY ■ The nnirriage of Aliss. Eleanor Ag-nr-s Mun'ay.' older daughter of ALr. and Airs. John G. Alurray of O.potiki, and Air. Archibald John Peart, youngest sen of Airs, and the late Air. A. Heart, of Okete, Raglan, took place at St. John’s „ Bresbvtorian Church, Opotiki, at 2 'o’clock on AYedltesday afternoon lost. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A., -0. Hampton -in the presence of a congregation which filled! the church. Tasteful decoration- had been carried out by friends of the bride, and the impress ive service was fully choral. The choir under the direction of Air. H. Rowland, rendered the anthem “Oh, How Amiable are Tliy Tabernacles”, the soloist being Airs. L. Duff. Pioftssor John Puryer was at the organ. The Initio entered the church upon the arm of her father, attended bv her sister Aliss Cecilia Alurray and Aliss Dorothy Ale-Far I and (a cousin) as bridesmaids, and by little Helen Peart (niece of the bridegroom) as ilovfergirl. The bridegroom was siqjported by Air. , Colin Ormiston as bestman, and Air. Neil Gavin as
groomsman. The bride looked charming in a ci cam gown of embossed chenille sheer.. Gathered on each shoulder the bodice was draped to form a “\ neckline. The full circular skirt fitting at the waist was of plain -design, falling to a small train at the-hack. The -sleev.es were full cross-over of unusual style and she wore elbow cream kid gloves. Her plain veil of cream tnlit- was worn over the face and caught- with three bands of satin. Cream hyacinths completed!. the headdress and the bride wore a pearl necklace. a gift of the bridegroom and a valuable lace handkerchief, the gift of Mrs. AY. Sydenham (senior). The bridesmaids and- flower gill were dressed alike in cream chiffon in period style with shirred bodices and full tiered skirts, short puff sleeves and waistbands of cherry velvet ribhen. A lost elective poke ' bonnets trimmed with chiffon and knots of cherry velvet ribbon—mittens and chiffon muffs ornamented with red anemones and cherry velvet completed the ensemble. Alls. Alurray. the bride's mother, was attired in a frock of red prune cinque with velvet hat to tone, and hlac-k fox fur. Airs. Peart senior was dressed in a smart black costume with Mack accessories. The bride’s grandmother, Airs. J. B. Aluriay, wore a black satin crepe frock, black tor coat an-cl black hat. relieved with black and white, wings. The bride’s bouquet was of fieesias, double cream daffodils. orchids an maidenhair fern. The bride’s nio-thei carried) a posy of daphne, camelias and winter -ruses to tone with her frock. Airs. Peart’s bouquet was of Hewers of waini colouring, and Airs. Alurray senior carried a bouqi.c c golden timings. A happy afternoon was spent by some one hundred and seventy j-■ at a reception subsequently given by the bride's parents. Air. and Airs. J. (>'. Alurray. in fit. John’s Hall, where a delightful scheme ol decorations had been carried out by Alls. G. B. Alurray. The Rev. A. 0. Hampton presided. Following - the reading ot numerous telegrams, the following toasts were honoured:—The King; the Bridle and Bridegroom, proposed by the Rev. A. C. Hampton, replied to l,v the Bridegroom ; the Bridesmaids and Flowergirl, proposed by Air. G. B. Alurray. replied to by Air. C. Ormiston ; the Parents of the Bride, pronosed by Air. Raymond Read, replied to 1 1 v Air. J. G. Alurray; the bridegroom’s mother proposed by Air. 'Lb J. Steele. replied to by Air. F. AA . peart ; the Bride’s Grandmother, proposed by Air. James McFarland, replied to In- ALr. J. N. Peart, and finally a toast to the Rev. and Airs. Hampton, proposed by Air. J. B. Cow and replied to by Air. Hampton. After the reception the guests were invited to the bride’s home at “Ladywell” where opportunity was taken to see- a display of the numerous presents given bv friends. The happy couple left in the early evening on their honeymoon, .the biide travelling in a green dress with tailoioil coat and rust accessories. A spray of orchids 'taken from-the bridal bouquet, arranged by Airs. Mini, completed the ensemble. BURNST—STORER A very pretty wedding was solemnised at the Alethodist -(-'llurch, Opoti-. ki. when Alargaiot Ellen, third daughter of Air. and Airs. J. Ktorer, Pacrata Ridge.. Opotild. was married to John Henry Burns, eldest son oi
Ml'S, and the late Air. James Burns, of ITverstone, Tasmania. The Rev. A. F. Attwood officiated. The bride,‘who looked very charming, en tered "the church cn the arm ol her father. She- wore a beautiful frock of magnolia white satin, cut on high slimming lines, ‘ with a. heart shaped neckline finished with a cluster, of orange blossom. The. sleeves were full at the shoulders, tapering to the wrists and finished with tiny buttons from the elbow to th'o wrist. The skirt fittedi• at the waist-, falling into a graceful train, the back being finished with a. row of buttons. Her beautiful veil, which was warn halo style and finished with orange blossom, formed a billowy train down the back.A bouquet of iceland poppies and asparagus fern completed her toilet. The bridesmaid, Aliss Ivy Storer, sister, of the bride, was becomingly attired in a frock of sky blue satin bcaute, .cut on classical lines. Her halo was of blue and silver leaves, and she carried a bouquet- of violets and asparagus fern. . ' The duties of best man were, ably carried out by Mr. El. Storer. The. bride’s mother received her guests wearing a charming frock oi wool crepe dp chine, with scarlet trimmings, a bouquet of anemones and asters completing her ensemble. The reception was held in the Wattle Tearooms. ' Air. and Airs® Burns later left for a tour of the North Island. Airs. Burns choosing as her travelling outfit- a navy blue costume with matching accessories.
PAUI ANIHANA SIX ’MAIDS ATTEND BIUDH A very pretty wedding, in which considerable interest was taken both on the Coast and in the Bay ol Blent.v, was solenfiiised in the Anglican Church, To Kaha, on August 24, when Aliss Atawhai Anihana, granddaughter of Air. and Airs. Hori Korohina, Horoera, was married to Air. Bara tone Haul, youngest son of the late Mr. AYiremu Haul and Airs. Paul, Te Kaha, Canon Baliewa officiating. The pretty young bride, looked charming in a frock of white satin with veil and carried a bouquet ot white roses. She was attended by six bridesmaids and two Hower girls, who all looked) pretty, four of the former in deep pink satin frocks, two iu light pmk, and the two flower girls in white satin. All carried posies oi roses. The bride was given away by her cousin, Air. Charlie Waegna. Tile bridegroom had his brother, Aiihaere, as host man.
y sumptuous feast was partaken of by a large number of people. The pieseuts wore numerous, among which was one from the East Capo AY omen’s Institute, of which the bride was an enthusiastic mem her.
Among the guests from the Coast were Aiesdames G. Goldsmith. R. T. Koliere. Hoi. .Potae, H. J. Dewes, S. Mill. R. Rangihuna. 11. Koroliina. and D. Browne.
