WEDDING

PAYNE—DU POMTET A pretty wedding was celebrated in St. John’s Presbyterian Church on Saturday morning, when. -Marguerite Aline, eldest tyuighter of -Mr. and -Mrs. if. Du .Bontet, of Waiotahi. Opotiki. was married to William Jfeyimlds Payne, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. JO. Payne, of Otaue, and lorinorly of Opotiki. The ceremony was conducted by Bov. A. C. Hampton, and Mrs. Jl. Holmes officiated at the organ. The bridle, wlm was escorted hv her

father, who gave her away, was charmingly attired in a classically cut gown cl magnolia satin, embossed in a cherry and leaf design. The neck wa.s finished with a Peter Pan collar, and the short- train fell gracefully from an inserted panel of magnolia satin. The embroidered veil was held in place with.a (unmet of mange blossom. Her toilet was completed with a double string of pearls, and white satin shoes, Mlie carried a bouquet of dr.plme, narcissus, daliodils, and asparagus fern; in attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Barbara Du Bontet and Miss Jeanne Du Bontet, sisters of the hi idc. Their picture frecks, designed with heart-shaped necklines, were of daffodil gold taffetas with emerald green velvet ribbon lacings on the bodices. On their heads they wore gold'-net veils, finished with emerald gieen velvet ribbon bows. They carried taffetas muffs finished with two half circles of gold narcissus. .Strings of pearls, gold mittens and shoes completed tlmir outfits. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. \V. S. Bnl:terwort h as best man.
