RAILWAY AND ROAD
PUBLIC MEETING ON SATURDAY Considerable interest is being taken in the public meeting which lias been arranged to be held in the Parish Hall on Saturday night bv the Opotiki County Council. 'file purpose of the meeting is to obtain, a definite expression of opinion from residents of Opotiki County, Borough and outlying districts as to whether they agree with the Opotiki County Council in urging the lit. Hon. the Prime .Minister to make a definite .statement when a commencement with the railway extension from Taneatua to Opotiki may be expected, and whether they are in agreement with the Council in urging the immediate permanent sealing of the State Highway between Opotiki and the railhead, to pass resolutions accordingly. The county chairman, Mr. AY. A. Gault will preside, and with him will be associated ’ Mr. A. G. Hultcjuist, M.P. and roprestntatives from the Pailway League, Farmers’ Union; Chamber of Commerce, A. and P. Association and other public bodies. The meeting is open to everyone interested and it is hoped that the meeting will lie a truly representative on e.
