SECRET TORPEDO-BOAT

RECORD CHANN FL TRIP LONDON, May 25.—A secret motor torpedo-boat, designed by Hubert Scott Paine, to carry a full war load of 13£ tons and 17 occupants, made a record Channel crossing from Southampton to Cherbourg in 86 minutes, averaging 42 knots. The top speed, although not revealed, is believed to exceed 50 knots. The vessel is fitted with three 10CO horse-power Rolls .Boyce Merlin engines.
