Howard, Of Opotiki, was formerly Miss !>• Patterson. PRE-NUPJIAL GIFT PARTY A novel and delight!ul alternoon at which Aliss Lennai Haitshoriie was the guest of honour, was tendered by Mrs. W. F. Ores swell at her heme on Wednesday. The drawing-room was attractively arranged with Iceland poppies, violets, daphne and heather. Two jolly competitions were won l>v Airs, (.’verge Anderson and Aliss Joy Kelly respectively, while Aliss Elsa Abbot was awarded consolation prizes for each. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the hostess, who later -called upon Aliss Hartshorne tc- accept, with the best wishes of all present, the gilt parcels, which, when opened, disclosed useful and dainty articles for the bathroom, in a delicate shade" of pink to tone with the guest of honour’s chosen colour scheme. Aliss Hartshorne expressed her thanks to the hostess lor tendering her such a delightful alternoon and charmingly thanked all present for their gifts. Further jolly games were enjoyed and terminated a very happy afternoon. jolly toatoa dance A joily little dance was held in the 'Toatoa Hall on Wednesday evening. Splendid music was supplied by Airs. F. Starky. Airs. AI. Alunro and Air. Aluuro. The duties of .VIA’, were carried out by Mr. F. Kearns. A chocolate waltz was. won by Aliss Ac. Adams and Air. J. Aloore.
