WINTER WETHER FAIR Me.ssrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd. reporthaving held their winter wether fair at- the Opotiki Salevai’dte on Thursday,, the 29th, of June, and prices as a. whole improved slightly, on late rates. The advertised yarding of sheep did. not come forward-owing to unfavourable weather conditions hampering- . mustering operations. We report the following prices : 2 and 4-tli wethers, account- H. 8. Holmes, Ltd., 14s; 2-th. wethers account L. Weston. 13s 9d; fat- wethers account- Rei ( l Bros.. 17s lOd; ewe'hoggets. account- L. Weston, 10s 7d; wether hoggets account L. Weston, 9s. opotiki: clearing sale Messrs. Dalgety and -Go. Ltd. reporthaving held a most successful clearing sale at- the Opotikj saleyards on account- of (a) Mr. Bert Henderson, Pakalii; (b) Mr. T. McDonnell, Waiawa ; (e) Air. B. Hannah, Waiawa. Messrs. Henderson and McDonnell, yarded their stock in very good condition and were able to give calving, dates which had the result of making, the sale from their point- of view very satisfactory. Mr. McDonnell’s average was in the vicinity of £B, whilst Mr. Henderson’s was £7 los. Air. Hannah’s cows were not in very good l condition and no calving dateswere available so that his average was* very low as compared with the othertwo vendors. We quote the following prices : Top price for a likely sort of dairycow, well forward and in good cornli-. tion, was £l2, whilst a similar cow"' made £ll 10s. Other cows sold from £9 to £ll> later cows £7 5s to £8 15s, Inferior cows, very backward. £4 ssto £5 15 s. Mr. Henderson also yarded eightmaiden sows, his top price being four and a-quarter guineas, which sum was realised by three Berkshire sows of good quality and type. Other sowsmade from three guineas to three and. a-lxalf guineas. A Jersey- bull offered on account, of Al'r. AleDonncll made seven and threequarter guineas and a yearling bull on account of Air. Henderson £4 4s. Heifer calves made from 3Ss to £2. ss. SALE AT WHAKATANE Alessrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd. reporthaving hold a very successful clearing sale at the Whalcatane sale yards on Wednesday, the 28-th. of June, of cattle and pigs offered l on behalf ot Air. J. Gallagher, White Pine Bush. This herd came forward in verygood condition and comprised chiefly young dairy cows of good type. Theaverage price for the whole herd was £7 los, the: top price being £l3 2s 6d. Others sold from £lO 17s Gd to £l2 5sSeveral pens, of pigs were also sold and two sows due to: farrow at an early date were soldi for the very satisfactoryi figure of £4 Is .
