ANNUAL REPORT The president, AIT. A. P. We received a Visit from the neighbouring clubs, Whakatane and Ta'neatua on Boxing Day, and experienced much pleasure in contesting sonic hard fought games. Unfortunately the usual return visit was, not paid, as. Anniversary Day turned" out very weland the arrangements had to be cancelled. U’jhis club was represented in the Forbes Cup, the Francis Cup, and the Ferguson Cup, and members journeyed to Whakatane to contest the Executive Fours and" Champion of Champions competition. An inter-club visit wag also paid to the Citizen’s Club in February for a challenge match loathe Stevens pennant. . All visits were thoroughly enjoyed by our members who greatly appreciated the hospitality extended tothem in each case. For the first time an inter-house-tournament was played on the Club’s green on 16th. April, and proved a very successful function, nine teams contesting some very hard-fought and

interesting games! - Your committee decided to institutea garden party during the year, and this was held on 11th. A!arch. A very gratifying response was received, and the Club funds were considerably benefitted. thereby. The venture. was so successful that 1 should like to see the function lhade an annual affair. All members entered wholeheartedly into; making the afternoon go with a swing, and I wish to take this opportunity of sincerely . thanking all the members who so loyally backed up the committee's efforts. The singles champion for the season was Air. M. O. Kidd, who again carried off the honours this year. I particularly want to thank the green superintendent and greens committee, and also the willing band of helpers who formed a working bee, for their untiring work and interestin top-dressinng and maintaining the green in such excellent, condition, algo Mr. Wilson Scott for his interest in the garden and surroundings. Many • complimentary remarks have been passed on the fine show ol blooms during the year, and there is no doubt the display was wonderfully effective.

Our sincere thanks are also registered for the cheerful manner in which the lady members have assisted on club days, and in entertaining visiting teams, and particularly fertile enthusiasm displayed on the day of the garden party, when their untiring efforts were to a large extent responsible for its success. In conclusion I should like to* thank the officers and members of the committee for their loyal support and helpful suggestions during my. term of office, and earnestly hope, that these gentlemen may be persuaded to offer them selves for a further period to control the club’s activities.
