SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING MANAGiJiIAiELNT CO-UMJTTEE, JiVUKEASED An extraordinary general meeting or the OpotiJci Rugby Union was lielcJ in tlie Mission Hall last night to. consider Mr. O. Biackj’s motion of which notice had been previously given, that a!i financial members shall be entitled to attend the annual general meeting and speak thereat and that each clue shall be entitled to two votes tor each senor team, one vote for each junior team, and one vote for each third grade team. Mr. T. Hickey, who presided, stated that the motion was not very explanatory. That was really needed was an increase on. the management committee and the motion did not provide for that. Mir. Parkinson said that the. motion had been altered to comply with the general feeling of the meeting and he was under the impression, that the representatives of the juniors would become members of the management committee.

Mr. Hickey explained that under the- scheme City would have five delegates, Tc Hum four and 0.M.1\ four, making a total of 14 on the committee. In reply to a question by Mr. Heattie, Mr. Hickey said most of the present members are available toi help on Saturdays. Mr. McCullough asked if: it would be in order to move an amendment at that stage. Mr. Hickey said Mr. Beattie’s remarks wore very valuable, it was important that clubs should hold their annual meetings before the annual general meeting. Mir. Parkinson said the clubs siiouici have definite delegates before the annual meeting and now that the aim of the motion was realised be asked for permission to withdraw the motion. This was agreed toe Mr. Hickey said that the management committee was not large enough to manage affairs, and suggested that a junior and third grade committee be. set up to select three members to represent t.hem on the management committee'. Mr. Beattie said the idea was an excellent one' and suggested that the additional members be appointed by the management committee in an advisory capacity. WEEKLY COMMITTEE MEETING OBJECTION ABLE BEHAYIO UR COMPLAINT RECEIVED The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Opotiki Rugby"Enion was held on Monday night-. Present: Messrs. T. llickey (chairman), AV. AlcCullongh, J. Paikinson. P. Chapman, • AL Delaware and I) Bennett (secretary). Air. J. Shaw waited on the meeting in connection with the conduct oi footballers and spectators on Connolly’s paddock. He stated that- while the junior match was in progress, the behaviour and language of both players and footballers was not fit for a public place. He requested the management committee to show a more strict control. Air'. Shaw thanked the committee for the opportunity of

bringing the matter before the meeting and retired. s ■ • ■■ Inward correspondence was read, and dealt with. Mr. W. McCullough reported* on the result of the meeting with the Opotiki Domain Board in connection, with the use of the sports ground. Ho stated that the three sporting bodies making use of the ground were to contribute £25 * ‘ between them for the .season. The Rugby Union was to pay £0 .cash and £4 later for the use of the ground in 1938.—The secretary was instructed to settle the accounts, as soon as possible. . 31 r.. T. Connolly’s Paddock.—Mr. Hickey was appointed to make arrangements for the marking off of the field. The question of the marking of the field was left in the hands ol 31 r. Chapman. Jerseys.—lt was decided to accept an offer for the washing of the rep. jerseys, Osl to be paid each time the jerseys -are washed and mended. The secretary was instructed to get in touch with firms undertaking the supply of engraved badges. On the motion of Mr. Hickey, seconded by 3lr. McCullough, it was decided to supply badges to the winners-' of the junior championship. 1c- was. resolved that the final of the junior knock-out competition should be played as a curtain-raiser to a representative match. The secretary was instructed to secure the opinion of the third grademanagement committee concerning tlienumber of rounds to be played in the third grade competitions. The secretary was instructed ter write to the secretary of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union asking that- theOpotiki Union be supplied with -a copy of the agenda paper prior to the holding of the meetings to enable the union to instruct their delegates civ the manner of voting, etc. A. vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
