OBITUARY
MR. H. J. WEBB The' death occurred suddenly on Thursday of a well-known and popular resident in the person of 31r. Henry (Harry) James Webb, of Richard Street, Opotiki, in bis 715th. year. The late' 31 r. Webb was cue of the oldest an.d( most respected residents of the district and liis .sudden passing came as a shock to bis many friends. Born at Elatli, Somerset, England, Mr. Webb came to New Zealand about •50 years ago and lived for a few .'.ears at Long Beach Station, Canterbury. He returned to England but came back to Now Zealand shortly afterwards and settled in Opotiki, where be was engaged in the wheelwright and coach-building trade until iris retirement a few years ago. - Mr. 3Yebb was a member of the Masonic Lodge and also a popular member of both the Citizens’ and the Opotiki Bowling Clubs. Deceased is survived by liis widow and three sons, two daughters and seven grandchildren. The sous are 31 r. Trevor Webb,- Mr. Arthur 3Yobb and 31r. lElric AYebb, all of Opotiki. The daughters are Mrs. Orchard- of Whakatane, and Mrs. F. 31. Foster,, of Opotiki. Members of the Masonic Lodge took part iir the largely attended funeral on Friday, which was conducted bv Rev. C. G. G. Salt.
