ANZAC SERVICE

TRIBUTE TO FALLEN OBSERYANCEI TOMORROW The Anzac Memorial Service arranged) by the Opotiki Returned Soldiers’ Assoication. will be held in the Regent Hall to-morrow, commencing at 2 p.m. Returned soldiers will fall in at the R.S.A. Rooms at 1.30 p.m. and xvill march to the [Memorial where wreaths will be placed, and thence to the Regent Hall where the service will be held. Mr. J. B. Gow will act as chairman at the service, and Mr. J. Puryer will be the organist. The address will he delivered by ('apt. J. Kirkpatrick, of the Salvation Army. The Returned Soldiers’ Annual Re-union Dinner will be held in the Lyric Hall to-night at 8 p.m., while the annual general meeting will be held on Wednesday next in the “Wattle tea-rooms. CEREMONY AT SCHOOL A short service of commemoration was held at the Opotiki District High School this afternoon. The headmaster. Mr. A. S. de Montalk addressed the pupils. The president- of the Opotiki R.S.A., Mr. E. J. Baigent. also addressed the gathering. Four pupils recited verses of Lawrence Binyon’s “For the Fallen” and a recording of “Land of Hope and! Glory” was played. The ceremony was concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
