OPOTIKI PIC SALE POOR COMPETITION The* New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report as follows on the monthly pig sale field in the Opotiki saleyards on Monday': We had an average yarding of pigs and report no variation in late rates. Winners and slips •wferc - practically unsaleable and unfinished pigs in ail classes met with, poor competition. Prime bacon pigs and porkers sold at late, rates, also choppers. Prices realized:—Heavy prime haw oners. £3 6s to £3 9s; lighter baconers. £3 to £3 4s; light bat-oners, £2 14s to £2 19s; Heavy porkers, £2 9s to £2 12s; light porkjers, 38s to £2 6s ; heavy store pigs, 22s to 27s 6d ; slips. 12s to los; weaners, good sorts, 5s to £5 9s; smaller weaners, Is 6d to £2 9s : choppers, £2 to 1 £2 19s. Messrs. Dalgetv* andl Co. Ltd. report that less than the average number of pigs came forward, practically no baconers being yarded, the majority of the pigs being porkers. They quote the following prices as being indicative of values ruling throughout the sale:— Mtediuni heavy to heavy baconers to £3 6s, which sum was secured for u pen of good pigs accfcunt Mr. J. M. Sccat-t; others, £3 3s to £3 ss; medium, £2 16s to £3 2s; light. £2 13s to £2 los; porkers, to £2 10s; lighter, £2 2s to £2 8s ; light porkers, £1 los to £2 Is; large stores to £1 14s; others. £1 8s to £1 12s; smaller sorts, 18s to 275; slips, to 14s; smaller sorts, 8s; weaners. 2s 6d to 4s Cd.
