' ' ’ .. ' ■ ■ V.J , 1939 DRAMA FESTIVAL Recently, , representatives of various Institute drama circles met to discuss the holding of a 1930 drama festival. As the 1938 one was of, sueli an outstanding success it was decided to have another one this year. The meeting decided toi approach Opotiki, O'tara, Waiotahi,- Waimana ancli other institutes, to take part. A committee of six members was formed wit'll Alls. Gault as chairwoman and Airs. K. Brown and Miss Bridge, as joint secretary and treasurer. Tho other members of the committee are Airs. Mail, Airs. O. Black ,ancl Mrs; Maxwell. It was i decided that a trophy be given to the winning play and the date of the festival was fixed at June 15tli. They also decided to approach Airs. AYright to be the adjudicator. Thanks to Airs. Gault brought the meeting to a successful conclusion.

OPOTIKI GARDENING CIRCLE The Gardening Circle of the Opotiki Women’s Institute met at the home of Airs. A Hail recently. Mrs. Merry presided’ over a good attendance. The flower competition was won by Airs. Abbot, with Airs. Fisher and Airs. AJail equal for second. The spray was Avon by Airs. Baird and Aliss Bridge. -There was a number of entries in both 'competitions and they Avert* judged by All’s. Bailey of Napier. T-jie roll call was avcll responded to and Airs. J. D. Clark offered her home for the next meeting, the competition to be the “most uncommon bower”. The competition chosen Avas a verse oil floAvers or gardens. The members Avalked round the beautiful and spacious- garden. The great show of marigolds and zinnias was greatly admired andir is slips were distributed. Thanks to Airs. Alail brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.
