Rooms' on Wednesday night— The retiring president, Mr. S.- D. Abbot, occupied the. chair. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed, and the - balance sheet and ..the president’s report- were read and adopted: The balance sheet revealed that' although £IOO had been received from the Bay of Plenty Racing Club, and £SO had been drawn from the Savings account, only a small surplus was shown cn the year’s operations. It was decided that steps be taken to run the club on a more economical basis, Election of Officers Patron, Mr. J. H. Reid (re-elected) President, Mr. S. D. Abbot (reelected) Vice-president, Mr. S. ANNUAL REPORT. The following report was presented by- the president. Air. S. Abbot:I have much pleasure in presenting, the annual report for our third! year of ’ operations. AVe have 81 financial members of the following classes: 47 men and four.< lady follower members, 14' children anil 10 honorary members, a Total decrease over all classes of 27. The bulk of this-drop is due to the loss ot nine honorary members and nine junior members. The number of unfinancial .members is considerably larger than we had hoped. .Subscriptions, however, show an increase of just on £lO, this being mainly— due. to the raising of tlie subscription for men followers at the commencement of the year. Onto again we would urge that the members do their utmost- to increase the membership throughout all classes during the coining season. The season’s operations were commenced) with a deficit of £5 at- the bank. The ball, which, due toi our inability to secure a suitable night, could not he held as early as usual, though: a succesk socially- was a financial' failure, the loss being £2 12s Gd. The point-to-point- however was a great- success, and thanks to the generosity of local tradespeople and members in the matter of the presentation of trophies, showed a- credit balance of £3O. . AYc ended the year w ith a favourable balance at the Bank of £2 14s 3d but as the annual payment from the Bay of Plenty Racing Chib of £IOO, together with a withdrawal from the P. 0.5.8. account of £SO, was ■ used, the position is not as satisfactory as we anticipated. It appears certain that if we are to freehold the . section something drastic will have to be dene to increase revenue and decrease expenditure. A slightly larger number of hunts wore held in the Opotiki district during this season and it was particularly pleasing to note how well the final hunts were attended. Approximated tho same number of hunts
