FORTNICHTLY PIG SALE NO DEMAND FOR WEANERS The New Zealand Doan and Mercantile Agency to. Ltd. report as follows on .fortnightly pig sale bold in the Opotiki sale-yards on Monday:— .We had a full yarding of pigs in all classes. Baconers-and heavy porkers sold well up to schedule. Stores and good slips were on a par with late rates but good weaners were not wanted. Prices realised were: — Prime heavy baconers. £3 os to £3 Ds; heavy baconers, £3 to £3 4s; lighter sorts, £2 15s to £2 18s; prime heavy porkers. £2 8s to £2 13s ; medium weight, '3Bs to £2 2s; light porkers. 23s to 355: good store pigs, 22s to 265; slips-,, 10s to 12s Gel; weaners, good sorts, to 7s Gd; small weaners, 2s to 4s ; choppers, £2 7s to £3 2s. Dalgety and Co.’s Report. Messrs. Dalgety and Go. Ltd. report as follows: A good average yarding of fat pigs came forward and notwithstanding the fact that exporters are not very keen, bacon pigs and porkers made a slight advance on recent rates and generally sold from 2s to 3s better than schedule price. The top price •paid was £3 10s for two heavy weight baconers on account of Miss E. McLeod, 'Woodlands, other lines making to £3 9s. ■ We quote :
Prime heavy weight baconei's to £3 10s ; others, £3,5s to £3 9s; medium, £2 18s to £3 4s; lighter, £2 16s to £2 18s; porkers, prime heavy weight, to £2 12s; medium, £2 '3s to £2 8s; lighter, £1 16s to £2 2s; large stores, to £1 15s; others, £1 7s to £1 13s; smaller, £1 Is to £1 6s; slips, to 15s; others, Us to 13s; weaners, good sorts, 8s; while inferior pigs sold for as little as 2s 6d.
