BAY OF PLENTY MATCHES EXECUTIVE FOURS WON BY WHAKATANE The Bay of Plenty Centre executive fours' competition, which was played at Whakatane on Saturday, resulted in a, win for Whakatane, the team comprising Messrs McLeod' (lead), Littlejohn (No. 2), A. Chambers (No. 3), Oaisley (skip). •The champion of champion singles match was won by Tf Bartlett (.Tauranga). OPOTIKI PICNIC TOURNAMENT WON B.Y TE PUKE A picnic tournament was played on the Opotiki Citizens’ green and resulted in a win for To Puke with a team consisting of J. Craig' (lead), J. Shaw (No. 2)., A. E. Payne (No. 3), T. Palmer (skip). Mr. Moody’s team from Taneatua was runner-up. FRANCIS CUP TOURNAMENT WIN FOR WHAKATANE' The annual tournament for the Francis Cup was played on the Opotiki Citizens’ Bowling Club’s green last Wednesday, and resulted, as follows: • Connor, Hathaway, Mansell and Short (,Opotiki) 7 lost to Lynch, M adson, Wilson, Peebles (Taneatua) 21. A. Jephson, A. Burton, C. Tnbb, S. Jephson (Citizens) 19 lost to Hayward. King, Baxter, Chambers (Whakatane) 22. Hayward! King, Baxter. Chambers (Whakatane) 21 v. Lynch, Madson, Wilson, Peebles (Taneatua) 17. (The Cup was won by Whakatane. The Cup was prevously held by tlio Opotiki Citizens’ Club. T H HI FERGUSSON CUP
Tjho competition for the Fergusson Cup between the various club’s singles champions' was won by Fergussou (Taneatua) who defeated Stevens (Opotiki Citizens) in the final by 18 to 17.
