Du Poutet. Vice-presidents; Alesdamos A. Snell and O. Reeve. Secretary. Airs. V. Wilson. Treasurer, Airs. P. Looney. Committee: Megda mes Anderson, Logan, .Brown, Wyllie, Johnson and Aliss B. Du Ponte t. Library sub-committee, Airs. R. Looney. AlSisses D. Aloore aPd B- Du Pon'tet. Stall, Alesdamos Brown and Wyllie. Airs. White thanked the. committee and members for their assistance in the past year, and Aliss E. Abbot, on behalf of the Institute asked Airs. White and Alesdames Burke and V'. L. Looney to accept charming bouquets in appreciation, of their work. Airs. V. Wilson V. 0., was also presented with a posy in recognition of her services, as organiser for the district.

Competitions resulted as- follows: TJireoi best pikelets: Airs. L. Y. Looney 1. Airs. Burke 2. Worked table centre : Airs. P. Looney 1 and 2. Best bloom; Mrs; W. L. Looney (Protea) Airs. P. Looney (Dahlia) 2. Best vegetable: Alhs. Reeve (potato) I, Alisa 1 Alioore (onion) 2.

'l’lie points prizes for the year were awarded as follows :

General competitions: Aliss B. Du Poutet.

Best bloom : Airs. L. A'. Looney Best vegetable: Airs. T. Burke.

Institute spoons were presented to the babies born during the past year —Helen Lees and Raymond AA'ells,, Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses. Aliases E. and A. Abbot and Airs. AYvllie.

The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.

WAIMANA-NUKUHOU ANNUAL MEETING There was a. good attendance ol members at the annual meeting o! the Waimana-Nukuhou Women's Institute which was held in the Waimana Hall last Wednesday afternoon. The meeting opened with the Institute Song, after which the secretary presented the annual report and balance sheet, and read the minutes for the previous annual meeting. , The secretaries of the Gardening and Dramatic Circles gave their reports, which were most interesting. -Mrs. F. J. Savage, the retiring president, addressed the meeting, thanking all for their help and co-operation dining her term of office, and special thanks were extended to Air. Steveuson and Air. King for their help during the recent, flower .show, in carting benches, and erecting and dismantling same. •One new member was enrolled, this being Aliss AT. Woolfield. During the afternoon, Airs. Savage, in an appropriate speech, presented Airs. N. Clark, who is taking the AV.I. trip to England and Europe, with a diary. Airs. Savage wished her a safe voyage and pleasant holiday. Airs. Clark most suitably responded, thanking the members for the useful gift and best wishes. A musical parcel was won by Airs. Jo ream. A bread-board, donated by Airs. Stansbury for competition was won by Airs. Al. King. The following officers were then elected for the committee for 1939: — President, Airs. Tl. Alarra. Secretary and treasurer, Mrs. C. Wylclo (re-elected). Vice-presidents, Airs. Hewitt, Airs. •Terrain, Albs. John Addison. Mrs. Black. Airs. Alitchell, Airs. J. WardJaw, Airs. King, Airs. T. W. Wardlaw, Mrs. Stevenson, Airs. I. Savage. The day’s competitions were well entered for and resulted:— Best Flower from member’s garden : Aliss AT. Fleming 1. Airs. Alitchell 2, Airs. I. Savage J. Six stalks rhubarb: Airs. Hewitt L, Mrs. I. Savage 2. ’Three plain cakes in paper eases: Mrs. Hewitt 1, Airs, T. W.‘ Wardlaw 2, Aliss Fleming. 3. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Airs. Eagle, Airs. Hewitt, Airs. Flint, r -Mrs. Woolfield. Mrs. F. Bell, Airs. Fleming and Aliss Al. Fleming. T,he National Anthem closed a pleasant meeting.
