HOSPITAL BOARD SECRETARY

MR. MERRY RESIGNS At the monthly meeting of the Opo-t-iki Hospital Board, held on Friday, the secretary, Mr. J. T. Merry, tendered his resignation. In his letter to the board, Mr. Merry stated that it was practically 'impossible to obtain skilled clerical assistance and asked to be relieved of his duties as from Ist. April. Mr. Merry offered to assist the hoard in a voluntary capacity. 'The chairman, Mr. Maxwell, thanked Mr. Merry for hfj past services to the hoard and for his offer of assistance and on behalf of members expressed regret that lie had found it necessary to resign. .

It was decided to advertise locally for applications for the position and to hold) a. special meeting on March 17 to consider applications. it was decided to offer a salary of £2GO to be reviewed at the end of 12 months. Mr. Merry has occupied the position of secretary to the hoard since its inception in 1925, thus completing 14 years’ continuous service. •
