TANEATUA TOURNAMENT “TIN HAT” TO TAN DAT PA The Returned Soldiers bowling tournament, was . held at Taneatua yesterday when teams -were present from all parts of the- Bay of Plenty. Tlie typical “Digger” spirit prevailed all day. Opetiki was represented by the following teams:— U. F. Cave, E. Baigent, F. Bridget', J. Mansell (skip). J. Craig. W." Beattie, G. Griffiths, C. Borrie (skip). J. Whitfield, J. 1). Clark, S. Oliatlieltl, W. Frew (skip). Borrie won his: section outright with 5 wins and 2 losses. In Section A, Peebles (Taneatua) and Curragh (Whakatane) played elf for the winner of the section and Peebles was the winner. The final match between Peebles (Taneatua) and Borrie (Opotiki), was won by Borrie. The winning skip will held the “tin hat” presented by Mr. F. Prideaux. for .12 months. Pewters were presented to the members of the winning team. THE CITIZENS’ CLCMI 'The following week-end games were played on the Opotiki Citizens’ Club's green : Clark, Burton, Tabb, Jephsoai 29 V. Webb, Burnett, Creagh, Shaw 20. Hickey. Stevenson, Macklren. Stevens 1.7 v. Day. .Miller. Reece. Kidd 20. Pairs Competition.—Bowles and Fey IS v. Bodman.and Payne 12. MATCH AT WHAKATANE The following players will represent the Opotiki Bowling Club in an executive fo-urs competition for the Bay of Plenty Centre, to lie played at Whakatane on Saturday next, I,lth. March at 9 a.m. —J. R. Sinclair, E. Reece, G. A. Hathaway, Cl Gordon. In the champion of champions singles competition to he played on the same day. 31. O. Kidd will represent the Opotiki Club.
THE FOIJP.ES CLT -MATCH ON WEDNESDAY The animal tournament for the Forbes’ Cup "ill he played on the Opotiki Citizens’ Howling Club’s green on Wednesday:— The fololwing team will represent the Citizens’ CHuh :—A. Jephson (lead), A. Burton. (No. 2), t. Tahh (No. 3); S. Jephson (skip). W. Stevens will play in the singles championship match for the Ferguson Cup. The singles match will take place in the morning, and the rinks match in the afternoon. The Forbes Cup is at present held bv the Citizens’ Club.
