Light Fog Yesterday. Another fog was experienced in 0potiki yesterday morning. but this was a fairly light one. The togs have -probably been caused by the smoky at in ensphere.
Fitness Campaign, The .Mayer, Mr. G. S. Melody, has issued a request to all business people to show their sympathy for fitness week by closing their premises limn 1 to -l o’clock on Saturday afternoon.

Tauranga and Wellington Go, East Cape and Gisborne 66, and Napier 69. Police Court Charge. At the Opotiki Police Court yesterday morning before justices. Mr. V. E. Wilson was charged with being intoxicated! while in charge of a motor truck. On the application of the police, the case was adjourned until the monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court.
Opening of Show. The OpotiTcT -V. and P. Association's annual show on Eriday last was officially opened: by the member for the district, Mir. A. G. Hultquist. who has had a -particularly strenuous time lately in attending to the needs of his electorate. Camping Crcund Popular.

Station-own-ers in the county aro taking advantage. of the dry spell to clear the hill country of fern and other rubbish and one or two fairly large tires were to hi' seen from the town yesterday, sending up a great volume of smoke. New Use for Honey. The increasing number of uses to which honey is being .put may be extended to ice cream manufacture. Atthe annual field day of the South Auckland branch of the National Beekeepers’ Association, held on the Cliutdeiland:; Showgrounds, ice cream sweetened' with honey was provided. The flavour was excellent and the ice cream was in no way different- in appearance from that made in the usual wa v.

Gardeners are having great difficulty in getting winter vegetables to get going as the caterpillars are making havoc with the young plants of cabbage and cauliflower.
