OBITUARY
MR. ERNEST A. SKEET FORM HR Gl' BORN FI R ICS I! >ENT The death occurred in Opotiki this week of Air. Ernest Albert Skeet, late of Gisborne, aged 70 years. The deceased was the youngest son of the ate Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Skeet. Gisborne, and spent the greater portion of his life in the Poverty Bay district. Air. E. A. Skeet was well ktiowu to settlers throughout Poverty Bay as a, building contractor, having constructed many shearing sheds and other station buildings. He had .been living in retirement in Opotiki for six years. The deceased took an active interest ill Rugby football in his younger days, and was one of Gisborne’s most prominent players, gaining representative honours in several seasons. He served in the South African War. leaving New Zealand with the Sixth Contingent, New Zealand Mounted Rifles. Air. Skeet, who never married, was the last surviving member of the family of the late Mr. and Airs. RM. Skeet. Messrs. O'. R. Skeet and F. Matthewson, Gisborne, are nephews of the deceased. The funeral took place in Opotiki vesterelay afternoon.
