An enthusiastic meeting of repri—sentatives of sports bodies was held. in the Borough, Chambers last night when the programme suggested by the “Eitneps AYeek” sub-committee was fully discussed and approved', with one alteration of uate. Mr. F. J. Short, who occupied the chair, said that since the programme was drawn up, a special meeting of. the Teachers' Institute had been arranged for Sunday 19th. February.. Air. Lynch said that that date did. not suit the Yachting Club as the tide would not be full in the afternoon. It was decided to bold the Sunday afternoon programme on the following Sunday, 20th. February, the sailing, race to take place at 2 p.m. The special church services will, take place as previously arranged, on Sunday 19th. It i.s probable that a. display by Territorials will be arranged to lie incorporated in the Saturday’s programme. % The committee decided to request the Mayor to invite business premises to close between the hours of .1.2.30 and I p.m. on Saturday, 25tli. February. Tlie chairman mentioned that a band will probably be organised totake part in the procession, while the dance orchestras will also be nskodi to take part. Representativesof various sports bodies intimated that their clubs will have floats in. tho procession and a humorous Heat will bo arranged. Owners of privatecars are also, invited to decorate cars for the procession. Air. A. G. Stevenson was appointed marshall of the procession. AYedliesday’s programme will include the forming of mass letters by children from the various schools in the district. It was decided to take up a collection at Wednesday’s and Saturday's functions to defray expenses. The order of the programme as arranged" was : Sunday, llftli. February, Special Church Services. AYednesday. 22nd. February, displays by children, athletics, etc. at the reserve commencing at 1.30 p.m. Saturday, 25th.
