Large Schn&pper Caught. Fishing off the Opotiki wharf last evening Mr. Bill Edwards succeeded in catching a 13ib. schnapper. A lew years ago s elm upper were fairly plentiful off the wharf but of recent years even small schnapper have been scarce. Attrill Cup Team. The following,have been selected to represent Opotiki in a match against Tauranga oil Sunday, February 12, for the Attrill Oup: E. Wells, It. Leudruin, it. Smith, M'. Le Pine, L. J) a vies, H. Any player unable to make the trip is requested to notify the secretary immediately. .sm Carriers’ Licenses. fl At a sitting of the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority in Whakataiio on Wednesday last, the Authority (Mr. E. J. Phelan) made an announcement that complaints bad been made to him that certain operators had not been complying with the terms of the licenses granted to them. He bad issued previous warnings, but be now desired it to be dearly understood that in future lie will have no hesitation in revoking a carrier’s license if he is not fully complying witli the conditions under .which the license was granted.

School Certificate Examination. r i;i.e results of the school certificate examination hold in November and December. 1938. were released for publication on Saturday. Students of secondary schools took part in the test. The papers were similar to those set fir the university entrance examination. but the marking of the papers differed. The ■ certificate examination is conducted by the Department of Education and is the equivalent cl matriculation.
