WEDDING
DENNETT—HICKEY A picturesque wedding was celebrated at St. .Mary's Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. 25th. January, when Kathleen Elizabeth. elder •daughter of Mrs. Hickey and the late dir. D. Hickey, of Opotiki, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Leo Howard, only son of Airs. Dennett and the late Air. Dennett, of Wellington. Lev. Father Brady officiated and Alas. Quirk presided, at the organ. Nuptial Alass was celebrated at the conclusion ol the ceremony. A guard of honour was formed by the Children of Alary. Entering the church on the arm of her brother. Air. T. Hickey, who gave her away, the briue presented a charming figure in a beautiful gown of white diagonalstriped fine lace, over satin, t he princess lines of the frock were enhanced by the diagonal stripes which met at the hack and front seams to add height and uignity. A simple round
nock-line was finished l with a tiny spray of artificial miniature lilies, which also outlined the hem of the graceful square train. The sleeves fell loosely from the shoulders over the hands, and a belt or ivory velvet finished with a. silver clasp outlined the waist. A billowy embroidered tulle veil was .arranged from a- becoming lialo of orange-blos-soms, and dainty ivory satin shoes were worn. A charming sheaf of white gladioli, roses and maiden-hair fern was carried. Attending as bridesmaid was Miss Nora Hickey, the bride’s sister, who wore* a very dainty frock of shell pink net over deeper pink taffetas. Hie full skirt was banded with velvet riblion. A round neck finished with a posy of flowers in two tones of pink, r and full puffed sleeves were favoured. .V belt of pink plaited velvet and satin ribbon was caught with a matching posy, at the front. Dainty silver shoes were worn and a beautiful sheaf of varying shades of pink gladioli, roses andi maiden hair fern was carried. The head-dress was a piquant Juliet cape of net outlined with flowers. The net fell to form a short veil at the back, finished with a scalloped edging. Mr. V. Mulhern acted as best man. After the ceremony a reception was field at the Wattle Tea-rooms, where Mrs. Hickey, the bride’s mother, received some fifty guests. She was smartly trucked in brown finely tucked georgette, the bodice inset with shell pink lace. * Brown flower-trimmed straw hat, and brown accessories completed the ensemble and she carried , a posy of ..pink dahlias, sweet peas and maiden-liair fern. The tables were ■decorated in pale pink and white, and the handsome cake held place of honour. Many congratulatory telegrams f. were read. Later, the happy couple, whose future home will be in Opotiki, left on their honeymoon which will comprise a motor tour of the North Island. Dennett chose a smart travelling outfit in black. Model frock finished ‘ with a fringed' sash and Oriental brooch, becoming wkle-brimnud black * ■ straw hat and black shoes, gloves and hand-bag.
