MAN DRAGGED BY HORSE

ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL As a result of being dragged by a horse. Mr. Ernest Proffitt, of Waimana, was admitted to the Opotiki Hospital suffering from severe bruises to the chest and numerous abrasions all over the body. Mr. Proffitt was leading a horse by a rope on the farm at Waimana, when the animal suddenly took fright and the rope became entangled around his hand. Mr. Proffitt was dragged over culverts and rough ground and lost consciousness. When lie regained consciousness he found that he had been dragged about ten chains before the rope released him. Ho made his way towards the house in a badly injured condition and was met about half way by another man and assisted to the house, before being removed to hospital.
