WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
MEETING AT OTARA Tho monthly meeting of the Otara Women’s Institute was held at Miss NeiLson’s home,, on Tuesday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members, and, in the absence of the presideiit, Mrs. W. A. Gault (vice-presi-dent), occupied the chair. After the monthly business, had been dealt with, Mrs. Gault, in sympathetic reference to the loss sustained by one of the expresidents ,of the Institute, Mrs. 11. , Van stone, asked the. meeting to stand in silence. The programme, which was short, included a delightful recitation by Mrs. W. Gault, the 801 l Call “Christmas Customs in Other Lands” and a lolk-dance in costume which was danced by Mesdamos Jones, Bingham and Young and Miss Lam-_ bert. A feature of the afternoon was two well-stocked stalls which met with ai good trade. A Christmas novelty competition was won by Mrs. Jones with Miss Lamert second. The visitors enjoyed wandering around M!iss Neilson’s well-kept gardens and a. hearty vote of thanks to the hostess for her hospitality brought a very enjoyable afternoon to a close.
