THIRD MONTHLY MEETING i,' -by v; ■; b;| j /.'yj ,7 7; lb > OUTSTANDING - EXHIBITS , The third monthly lecture and display evening) of the Opotiki Horticultural) Society was field in the Parish Hall last night. Mr. J. .1). Clark prf sided over an attendance of over fifty members, and, in view of the inclement weather, the society was very pleased! with such a large attendance. There were 82 exhibits of flowers, fruit and»vegetables. Mrs. S. Parkinson won the. special prize for the. hesij. exhibit with a. howl of eleven different kinds of hybrid hydrangeas. Among the other outstanding exhibits were double lark,spur. St. Joseph lilies, irises, dahlias, carnations and a. splendid specimen of lavender clematis and smoke plant. Another interesting exhibit was a plate of Sinead early peaches grown h.v Airs. K. Jeffery. The president, in. Iris remarks, congratulated the ladies on the fine display of flowers and reminded the men that they were* not showing enough exhibits from their vegetable- gardens. He Imped there would be. a better display' at tlu* next meeting which is to be held on. January 10.
