THE OPOTIKI CLUB ANNUAL MEETING The animal mooting of the Opotiki Golf Oub was hold on Monthly night in tlie Parish Hall, the retiring president, Mr. A. N. Davies, presiding over an attendance of forty members, this being the host attendance tor several years. The minutes of tile previous annual meeting and of a special general meeting held tor the approval of alterations to the layout of the links, nere read and continued. The annual report was read and approved, and the .statement of accounts and balance sheet, as presented by* the treasurer, Mr. E. C. East, were adopted. The accounts showed a slightly lower income from subscriptions. Maintenance costs were higher and a fair amount of Capital expenditure bad been undertaken. An increase of 2o per cent, in county, rates meant an additional expenditure oil' £1). Only two subscriptions remained outstanding at the .date of the ' meeting. .During the season the balance of purchase money due to the vendor had been paid off and a new mortgage bad been arranged on sntislnetory terms. Lovett was thanked lor auditing the hooks during .Mr. Ilrane’s incapacity. Subscriptions for both senior and junior members were tixed at the same rate as last year and d was arranged to carry on with the competition levy as during the past two years. Summer golf was provided for, members having the option ol paying a 10s fee lor the live summer months, o,r Is per round of nine boles and' Is Gd for eighteen holes. The meeting closed 1 with votes of thanks to the retiring president and committee lor their work during the past season.

'I In* match committee had much difficulty in airanging for the necessary number ol players for visiting, especially considering our membership is fairly good. 'l’lie arrangement carried out by the ladies committee and the decorations attended to by Mr. ('lias. Wright and a small band, of helpers made what was voted one of the best dances oil.' the year. Lay-out : A special meeting was held at which it was decided to alter the present lay out. of the links in accordance with a scheme submitted by a golf architect, Mr. J. D. A. Scott. Work has been held’ up owing to- our not having a permanent groundsman and to the cash not being available. In conclusion, the committee thanks all who have contributed to tbe success of the past season and extends its best wishes to the incoming committee.
