MEETINC OF BUSINESSMEN ; •: ■ 'THREE DAYS EACH WEEK A meeting of Opotiki businesspeople was hold in* the Opotiki Borough Council Chambers yesterday morning. The president, Mr. I). An Id, occupied the chair, and stated that the meeting had been called at the instigation of Mir. Goodacre, the Department of Labour's district officer. Air. Auld said that Air. Goodacre had put forward suggestions and it was for the meeting to decide what holidays would he observed at -Christmas time in Opotiki. Several of those present expressed the opinion that it would he better for business to remain open on the Wednesday preceding Christmas Eve. On the motion of Air. A. G. Stevenson it was unanimously decided to remain open on the Wednesday afternoon preceding Christinas Eve and to observe the following Alonday, Tuesday and Wednesday as holidays and also Alonday, Tuesday and Wednesday as the New Year holidays. 'The employees and union representatives also carried a resolution agreeing to the observance of the above holidays.
