OPOTIKI GARDENIMG CIRCLE The October meeting of the Gardening Circle of the Gpotiki Women’s Institute was held at the home ot Mrs. Baird. There was a large attendance of .members, -presided over l>y Mrs. Merry in the absence through illness of the president. Mrs, Forbes. The beautiful Mower garden looked lovely in the spring sunshine and was greatly admired. The vegetable garden also proved very interesting and a bank of sweet peas was the centre of attraction. '! he three best flowers competition resulted as follows ;—Mrs. Hughes 1. Mrs. Merry 2. .Mrs. Abbot 3- The posy competition piaemgs were: Miss .Bridge 1. Mrs Abbot 2, Mrs. Mansell 3. A paper cid the cultivation cf sweet garden corn was read by Mrs. Fisher. It was decided to visit -Urs. Bennett in November and the competition will lie, the host vegetable and the three best dowers. Thanks to Mrs. Baird brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
