OPOTIKI CLUB OPENS SEASON FAVOURABLE! AVEATHEHI I The Opotiki Lawn Tennis Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon m "fine weather. The appearance of the courts' reflected the large amount of work which members of tno committee have lately done on the grounds. In liis opening remarks. Air. J. A. T. Henry, president of the club, extended a welcome to visitors and new members, and expressed the committee’s pleasure in seeing so many, eld members present. Air. Henry also complimented the committee on the excellent work it has accomplished on the grounds. The courts were opened by Aliss N. Davies who played the first ball, after which games were played by the JO present for the remainder of the afternoon. The club is looking forward to a very successful season, and the purchase of a motor mower should) improve the club’s financial position considerably. The club’s .championships will commence in about a fortnight’s time and two teams have been entered for the AA’att pup competitions.
