PLUNKET AND REST ROOMS
LETTER FROM. COMMITTEE COUNTY COUNCIL DISCUSSION A letter from Mr. W. Briggs, secretary of the Opotiki Plunket and Rest Room Committee was received " at the monthly meeting of the Opotiki County Council. The letter requested the council to allow the use of its site in Church Street in conjunction with the borough section for the building of Plunket and rest rooms. A discussion took place as to whether any concrete proposals had been placed before the council. Or. Medley .suggested writing to the borough council statilig that the county council did not know exactly what was wanted and suggesting that the borough council send delegates. CT. Black said that the council wanted to know the proposed site and cost of the buildings. Cr. Medley asked «how that would affect the council as no title was asked for. Mr. Gault pointed out that the letter was from the committee- and not from, the council. Mr. Merry contended that the committee had no standing. CT. Medley in urging that the two councils discuss the matter together stated that they would go on for another 12 moptlis as at present they
wore getting no further ahead. Mr. Maxwell claimed that the committee was an unfinanciai body with no standing at all. After a good deal of discussion it was decided to ask for more definito information.
