THE ANNUAL MEETING A SUCCESSFUL YEAR, ' f: • The annualmeeting of the Opotilci Rod and Gun Club was held iu Mr J. 11. Whitfield’s rooms on Friday night, when a large number of members was present. The. president, Mr J. MeCaldon presented the annual report, while the balance-sheet presented by the secretary, Mr G. L. Day, revealed a very sound financial position. The secretary also presented a report concerning* remits put forward at the conference at Rotorua. The meeting passed, a vote of thanks tot the delegates. It was decided to double the secretary’s honorarium, .in view of the large amount of work. V, A, vote of thanks was passed to Mr Jack Ross, who had been largely responsible for adding £lB to the club as the result of a dance. Election of Officers. Patron, Mr G- S. Moody. President, Mr J. A.' Me Cal d oh. Vice-presidents, Messrs R. Mellwraith and J. R. Whitfield. Committee, to consist of all those present. Treasurer, Mr J. Thompson. Assist-ant-treasurer, Mr TV. Burton. Auditor, Mr T. JHL. Pearson. Secretary, M!r G. JL. Day. Shooting Committee. Messrs W. Burton, Jack Ross, J.. O’Sullivan jnr., W. Reece, R. file 11 wraith, J. field, H. Armstrong, E, TorriO, A. Lowe. W. Blutler. Referee and handicapper—left to incoming committee. Trappers, Messrs Leo. Parikrtson and Paddy Brown. General. Fees.—Membership fees were fixed at 2/(i. Hire of Trap.—Mr Day stated that lie had received requests for the hire of the hand trap. It was decided to hire the trap at os per fortnight, and to sell birds as well.
Club Shoot.—lt was decided to hold a club shoot on Sunday, October 9 at 10 a.m. and t 0 hold monthly shoots thereafter on every second Sunday. Challenge Cup.—Messrs J. filcCaidon, R. Mcllwraith and Jack "Ross were appointed selectors of a ream to be chosen to compete at Rotorua for the Bay of Plenty Challenge Cup. Shag Drive.—it was decided to bold a shag drive on the last Sunday in October.
Social Evening.—lt was decided to arrange a “smoko” during the lisiiing and shooting seasons when a repast consisting ol fish and game would ho served-Thanks.—-Votes of thanks were extended to> Mes dailies Parkinson. J. O’Sullivan. jvinr., S. Maxweil and all those ladies who assisted in the arrangements for the club’s dance.
