HAWAIIAN BALL FFNCTION AT WAiOKKA Outstanding success attended the Hawaiian Ball organised by the social committee of the Waioeka Hall and field on Wednesday night. Conditions were ideal ior dancing, completing tlio energetic efforts ot the committee to ensure the success of the function. Colourful decorations were a feature of the function which was attended by an exceptionally large number of happy dancers. A novelty dance which was won by Miss I. \\ a I leer and Mv O. Jones was a popular item of the programme and the 'distribution of streamers and showers of confetti lent a brilliant scene. The popular Electrotone Orchestra supplied the music, rendering a selected programme of music appropriate to the occasion. Their numbers were greeted with enthusiasm by the dancers, who aporcciated the ready response of the orchestra to demands for encores. Mr I. Ban was an efficient M.C. and there were "no dull intervals throughout the entire evening. A delicious supper was served and dancing was enjoyed until the early hours. DANCE JN LYRIC HALL Olio, of the series of enjoyable, socials organised by the social committee of St. Mary’s Church, was held in the Lyric Hall on Wednesday night. The hall was attractively arranged and n, very happy evening was spent by all who attended. A novelty dance, in which considerable interest was shown, was won by Mr and Mrs W. KelJv, while Mr and Mrs Shorn Kelly were the winners of another later in the evening. A popular programme of ..modern and old-time dances was ■played by the Melody Masters’ Orchestra.
