OVER 40 HOCCETS KILLED THREE! DOGS DESTROY Kl) Thy fourth serious reported case ol sheep-worrying in the Opotiki district occurred in the early hours ol Monday morning when over 40 hoggets were killed on .Messrs Reid Bros.’ property. Tablelands. In addition a large number of sheep were wounded and further loss is expected. Tile sheep were badly torn, a large’ number having their heads crushed. Three dogs were responsible for tin' loss, and they were later located: and destroyed. Yesterday the carcases of the sheep were brought into Opotiki to lie led to the Hunt Chili’s hounds. As this is the fourth serious ease of sheep worrying reported this year, it is obvious that local" bodies will have to take steps to have some restriction placed upon dogs roaming the countryside at night.
