CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE REUNION AND CONCERT ON FRIDAY J •’ \ At the Presbyterian Sunday SchooL Jubilee Tea. held l , on Friday, a present was made to each child ot the Sunday School (just over 100) of a New Testament suitably inscribed with the Jubilee dates, 1878-1938. A good programme of children’s items was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. The first of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration Services was greeted by large congregations at St. John’s ClmrelL on Sunday. Special music, with Mr. John Puryer at the organ, and solos by Mrs Steele, Mr H. Rowland and Mr H. S. Holmes, was a feature of the services. Anthems were given by a full choir. The preacher in the morning was Rev- John G. Laughton and in the evening Rev. J. A. McKenzie-. The grand: Jubilee reunion and concert, arranged by the Presbyterian Church to celebrate the conclusion cl Gf) ye;trs of congregational life will be held in the Lyric Hall .on Friday. Vocal and instrumental items have been arranged by the choirmaster, Mr H. Rowland. The‘Rev. A. C. Hamilton is to preside and there will be a number of speakers, including the Rev. George Budd, and it is hoped the Rev. A. D. Harwell and Mr Robert Semple, as well as representatives of sister churches in our own town, will also extend greetings. On Sunday next (Jubilee Sunday) special services will he held in St. John’s Church to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee—7B7B to 1938. The Very Rev- -George Budd is to preach in the morning and two Opotiki hoys—the Rev. Angus McKenzie and Mr John Murray jnr., at night. There will he anthems and solos and well known, hymns at both services when Mrs A. H. Hi Herd will, by special request, ofiicite at the organ.

MV Alfred Eady, L.R.S.M.. the well-known Auckland organist, together with Mrs and Miss Eady, are expected in Opotiki at the week-end. They are to he guests at “Carmyllio”. On Monday evening Mr Eadv will give an organ recital in. the Church and a strong supporting programme has been arranged.
