“MOTHERS’ DAY” (('ontributed.) .Mrs li. Sinclair (president) presided over a very large attendance, the occasion he inn ‘•.Mothers’ Day ’. A special visitor, Miss Appleby, gave an interesting and instructive address, ft was decided to hold the final nieetinir or the Band oi Mope on the first Thursday, in October, when essays froin Standards ~> and 0 will he read and prizes awarded- A letter trom the Alliance spoke oi a visit in the near future of Bishop Bennett, who will speak on the evils ol intemperance. Vocal items, which were much appreciated wore given by .Miss hlcanor Murray (solo). Mosdames Duff and Steen- (duct). Alls 1.. Sinclair (solo). Bishop Bennett is president of the Alliance for this year. Aliss Applehy specially emphasised her care and concern for children and l referred to their sufferings. She had seen them in mental asylums and in hospitals, victim- of a terrible disease' passed on by parents. “‘•What a , heritage,” she said. Continuing, she urged all present do realise their responsibility on polling day and to think of these who are suffering. .Mrs Gordon thanked Airs Appleby for her splendid address.
