CHURCH DIAMOND JUBILEE

CELEBRATION IN OPOTIKI

SPECIAL SERVICES

The Diamond Jubilee of St. John’s Presbyterian Church will be celebrated during the week-end and next week by a programme of special events. In about 1878 the Presbyterian Church first held services in Opotiki and many years afterwards services were held in St. John’s Hall. The present church was erected about 3-3 years ago.

On Sunday next Jubilee services will be held, the morning service being conducted by Rev. John G. Laughton, while Rev. J. A. McKenzie will conduct the evening service. There will be special music at both services- The organist will be Mr John Puryer and the choirmaster -Mr H. Rowland. On Sunday morning. 26th. inst., Very Rev. Geo. .Rudd will conduct the morning service while the evening service will be conducted by Rev. Angus McKenzie, assisted by Mr Hemi Nikora and -Mr Jack Murray. Special music will again be a feature of the services. The organist will be Mrs A- H. Hilford. and the choirmaster, Mr H. Rowland.
