WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
WAIMANA-NUKUHOU GARDENING CIRCLE i ...... The monthly meeting of the gardening circle members of the WaimanaNukuhou Women’s Institute, was held at the residence of Mrs E. Cranswiclc, Nukuhou North, last Wednesday afternoon. There was a very good attendance of members. After the reading of the minutes the president, ,31rs Jerram, gave an interesting reading on the growing of lupins, and Waratahs, and some very'useful hints were given by several members on pruning and spraying. The competitions for the day were: —Bowl of spring flowers arranged for effect: Mrs V. Miller 1, Mi’s Cranswick 2, MVs J. Mitchell 3. Vase of violets: Mrs Eagle 1 and 2, Mrs King 3. A putting competition arranged by Mrs Cranswick was Avon by Mrs Miller and Mrs King. After a dainty tea had been served by the hostesses, Mrs Burnett and Mrs Eagle, members strolled round the well-kept gardens and lawns; the early, flowering shrubs being much admired. A hearty vote of thanks to: the hostess for such a pleasant afternoon, closed the meeting.
