OPOTIKI GARDENING CIRCLE The gardening circle of the Opotiki AVomen’s Institute lield its August meeting at the home of Mrs J. JL Gow recently. There was a good attendance presided over by the president, Airs Forbes. A letter was received from Mr Risk concerning the formation of a Horticultural Society. Airs Alail gave an interesting talk on the growing of asparagus and also the growing of . early tomatoes in the North of Auckland. The competition for three best flowers resulted in Airs Baird. [Mrs J. D- Clark and Aliss E. Bridge, receiving equal points. For the posy of violets competition Airs J. I>. Clark was first .and Airs Alerry second; The roll call was “The Flower You Like Best”. The extensive and attractive garden was greatly admired and plants were distributed to the members. A vote of thanks to Airs Gow and Aliss Alurray brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.
