The Omaio Tribal football team was again successful in retaining the Katana Cup when the Tauranga ALaori team was defeated by a 12 points margin. The Match was played at Omaio on Saturday, and the game was fast and hard. Tauranga fielded a very solid and heavy team but tho visitors were outclassed in all departments of the game. Tauranga appeared to ho dangerous at the start and scored.two unconverted tries. Omaio scored an unconverted try before half-time. After half-time the Omaio backs started to throw the ball about in great style and overwhelmed the visitors. The Tauranga team showed lack of fitness before the end of tin 1 game. The final scores were: Omaio 23, Tauranga 11. Tho game was controlled by Air. P. Poihipi.
