COMING-OF-ACE PARTY

To celebrate the coming-oi-age of their son John, Air and Mrs \v . C. Beattie entertained some seventy guests at their lionte, Woodlands, on Friday evening. The older lolk enjoyed cards in the drawing room, which was artistically arranged with japcnica and anemones, while the younger people made use of a vacant house on the farm, for their dancing and games. The house had been prettily decorated with ferns and lairy lights and a very jolly time was spent, dancing being enjoyed to amplified gramophone music.

A delicious supper was served in the sun-porch where the tallies presented an inviting scene, dainty Iceland poppies and violets being used for decorations. Holding place of honour was the handsome birthday cake bearing 21 candles.

Rev. A. CL Hampton, on behalf of those present, extended good wishes to the guest of honour, who suitably responded. There were numerous handsome and useful gilts, and Air C. W. Reid, in an appropriate speech, presented John with a large kev.

A very happy evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and ‘‘For They Are Jolly Good Fellows”.
