EAST COAST ROAD

BRIDGING OF STREAMS GOOD WORK ACCOMPLISHED Two- deep open crossings witliin a short distance of each other at Schoolhouse Bay, Te Kalia, have now been eliminated by small concrete bridges. These two streams were particularly difficult to negotiate on account of steep approaches. The bridging of the Pakaranui stream which is situated just beyond Te Kalia, has also been commenced and this will overcome one of the worst of the smaller streams. Work will lie started at an early date on bridging the crossing on the Te Kalia side of the dairy factory. With these small streams bridged and the Raukokoi’e and Kereu bridges completed Coast residents and tourists will be able to travel on the road through almost any, weather.
